LOWER KINDERGARTEN: The students have started with the new Theme – How we organize ourselves. The unit under study is “My day in school as well as home”. Under this students have already visited different classes, and acquired knowledge of how the classrooms are organized. Children planned a birthday party in their classroom and decorated their classroom creatively. They made invitation cards, which was used for assessment. HIGHER KINDERGARTEN: The children have learnt the skill of printing from natural things. They have developed their fine motor skills and creativity through an assignment of patterns. The students were given colourful beads and a thread. They put the beads into the thread, which helped to develop their motor skills. This activity also helped them in their counting. The students have begun basic Phonic sounds and are working on identifying words in their surrounding, that begin with the sound under study. They are also learning to trace patterns using thick colour-chalks. The students have also begun basic reading of small words. The students are studying Land-Air-Water vehicles and therefore have created 3D models of the same in the class. In GRADE 1, children made hanging showpieces from clay to keep the photographs of their family members. They even made envelope holders from paper in design and technology. They also learnt about simple paper folding (Origami) and cutting during this task. The children have now understood he phonetics and are enjoying their learning in this way. They have started reading and writing using the phonic sounds. As a part of their unit, they have started their study into the organization of malls and their importance in day-to-day life. In GRADE 2, students were taught how to count money and conduct small money transactions through role-play. They were also introduced to the concept of pollution and studied the various air pollutants and then did a worksheet. In French, number names have been reinforced, the students made a project using Microsoft Word. They solved structured worksheet and also learnt to introduced themselves in French. The children have also been exposed to the basic traffic system of their country and they have become aware about the traffic lights and signals. They have created a virtual crossroad with cars and traffic lights in their class. They have also learnt simple poems about traffic lights. The students had to read an extract loudly. The passage was “Mrs. Holly and the Rabbit”. They then completed some conversations and constructed sentences from some given phrases. The children also comprehended the passage and answered some of the questions directed towards them. The students were introduced to the concept of currency. In GRADE 3, students solved worksheet in French and introduced themselves in French. The children are now studying the life of the people of the Indus Valley civilization. They are becoming aware about the city life, pattern of living and trade of that era. They have also composed some aspects of that time to the current scenario. The students were introduced to the concept of writing short meaningful write ups in the form of slogans. They were also introduced to the concept of organization in the laboratory and library. They also learnt the importance of labeling.

In GRADE 4, children explored, developed and expressed their ideas using calligraphy. They understood the concept of using various tools in calligraphy like “KITTA” (a thick grass stick). They even prepared posters having the maximum use of calligraphy in it. They even tried to find the use of calligraphy in their own society. The students were given some simple structural exercises for a systematic understanding of the French verbs and their conjugation. We also worked on different nationalities and the gender. The students had to undergo their assessment process where they had to think and answer some open ended questions, do map-plotting and also answer some questions related to the Mesopotamian Civilization. In GRADE 5, the concepts of “multiples” is being done and students have taken upto Lowest Common Multiple in class. They were taught the prime factorization method to find the same. Students learnt directions in French. They reviewed the school campus and showed everything using directions. Students analyze over the topic “Measurement” in a form of writing about the importance of measurement in visual art. They even acquired the skills of cooperating and group-decision-making by working in a group. The students read a story about ‘Ra’ the sun god. They presented different dramas related to the Egyptian Civilization. This was a part of their assessment. The students also wrote a story with the following outline given to them… ‘Pharaoh Menes was very unhappy - He had lost the war with the neighbouring king - The Egyptians were very happy.” The students learnt Highest Common Factor using prime factorization method (factor tree). In GRADE 6, students started with the new project Footprints, under this unit we have taken-up “wonders of the world”. Students with the help of the Internet made a power point presentation on the wonders of the world. Students made some posters related to the topic - “landscapes” using paint software. The students were introduced to the concept of motion and its various types. They also studied the concept of speed in terms of distance and time and solved numericals. The students’ concept of “ratio” was extended to its application. They were given worksheets to reinforce the same. In GRADE 7, students learnt about the very basics of design. They have done an assignment in which they drew squares of their choice and filled any three colours by mixing those with each other. They acquired the knowledge of basic design through the assignment. The children have studied about the Indian constitution and it’s making. To take it to a personal level, the children have made a constitution assembly of the school with representatives from each grade. This constitution assembly committee has made the draft of the school constitution. In this way the students are gaining a first hand experience on making of the constitution. We listened to a simple dialogue involving a simple introduction in a formal as well as an informal situation. We worked on a systematic approach of the listening comprehension by gradually picking out understood words and then making sense of it. Through this listening activity we also worked on the pronunciation and intonation and its importance in a conversation. The students read a poem ‘Grandma’ by Ted Huges. They discussed and shared their experiences about their grandparents and then they tried to draw similarities and differences from the poem.
